Meindl Tyrol is the boot of choice for Alpine Hunters, High Country Farmers and Outdoor Professionals who operate on the most challenging mountainous terrain.

The Meindl Tyrol is the toughest alpine boot on the market; totally built to withstand heavy use. It’s intended uses span from the ultimate professional-level mountaineering boot to the ultimate high country musterer’s boot for the most challenging highcountry terrain. Dense and thick leather, high and thick protective rubber rand and minimal exposed external seams combine to reduce the chance of wear and tear related damage.

A Trekking boot last is used (rather than a very narrow alpine last) in order to balance a snug fit against the need to cater for those with wider/above average volume feet. The rigid alpine climbing polyamide shank combines with the snug fit, the low flexibility structural support and the narrow outsole profile to create the ultimate stability platform for toeing-in, sidling, edging, climbing and crampon use in vertical mountainous terrain. Ideal for movement across broken and steep alpine terrain when load carriage is medium to heavy (20-40kg+).

A favourite boot amongst pro-users who demand longevity despite constant use such as Outdoor Guides, Farmers, Professional Climbers and Professional Hunters.

Advice from Meindl
  • The boot is an ideal choice when you are carrying medium to heavy alpine loads (20-40+kg) in extremely steep and treacherous terrain.
  • As far as alpine boots go, the fit of these is quite generous, especially in volume and around the toe box. We've found them suitable to fit most wide fit users without issues. Some users with narrower feet will require volume spacers to tighten up the boot fit.
  • Ankle support and sole rigidity is substantial in these boots; therefore most users will find them impossible for use on prolonged trail walks. A BC category boot is recommended for crossing trails or medium and broken terrain.
  • Apply Meindl Sport Wax liberally to the heel flex zone, the exposed seams and toe flex zones to prevent leather drying and cracking in these high wear zones.
  • Take care to read the Nubuk leather care instructions in this website and don’t dry them too fast by the fire in the hut 😉!
